I feel a bit like a stalker, Poshtotty as I, too, went back into the sixes this morning but at least we know the lower readings are achievable.

Yes indeed!
5.2 - and an OGTT in a wee while.
Now been reading that caffeine can reduce insulin sensitivity and so cause elevated FBG? I drink two black espressos first thing in the morning (2x7g coffee beans) and maybe three black teas during the rest of the day (3x tea bags infused with cinnamon). Grasping at straws here!
Horses for courses. I drink two coffees in the morning and that doesn't seem to affect my bg. I'm finding, however, that yoghurt does, hence my bg of 8.6 this morning :-o I think it's just case of experimenting with different things to find what does and doesn't suit youNow been reading that caffeine can reduce insulin sensitivity and so cause elevated FBG? Would that be the fruit yoghurts?Horses for courses. I drink two coffees in the morning and that doesn't seem to affect my bg. I didn't know that.Even unsweetened plain natural yogurt can be rich in lactose carbs because the bacterial fermentation to make yoghurt is halted well before all the lactose is consumed by the bacteria in order to avoid making the yogurt too sour.
5.8 again this morning. Something that I'm not happy with is going on......
Once is a blip, twice could be coincidence, tomorrow has to be below 5.3, otherwise I may have grilled Liver, bacon and onion gravy soon. ;-)
Thanks Poshtotty... you made me laugh out loud for real with this...Achievable I mean, not stalking! Doh!
That is wonderful news... well done... all that hard work and worrying paid off...

LOW GI/GL GINGER CAKE for those who requested I post it on here. You could probably substitute other flours such as soya but would need to use xanthan gum with it for it to hold together. Possibly add grated root ginger instead (or with) the ground ginger
GINGER CAKE
4ozs Quinoa flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
6 oz coconut palm sugar
ground ginger to taste
4oz pinhead oatmeal
4 oz unsalted butter (sweet butter)
1 beaten egg
Melt butter and stir in the sugar followed by rest of the dry ingredients
beat the egg and stir into the mixture
Pour into small loaf tin lined with baking parchment
cook at 120C for an hour to hour and a half until knife comes out clean
lift out of tin with edges of paper and cool on a baking rack
I adapted one of my old favourite recipes and luckily it came out ok the first time - apart from burning the sugar slightly (I'd put butter AND sugar on together but as it doesn't dissolve into the butter like normal sugar does it stuck a little - hence the melt butter first.......
I look at anything below 8 as on the positive side.7.1 this am hoping for a lower figure cos its now day 9 of my 'back on the wagon ' status ..still at least i'm on board so to speak lol
