I keep verging on sore throat cold ethyl.....was expecting a frost here as forecast but at 4am it was wind and rain! Hope your pain subsides - no anxiety episode ? It's one of the things affecting my daughter at the moment and I'm concerned of course

I had an intermittent sore throat for years.
It was one spot on my tonsil. Sometimes looked a little white and swollen. Always in the mornings. Would disappear by about 11am.
Eventually discovered that it was potassium deficiency.
Yeah. Bizarre. I know.

Now, when I wake up with that particular sore throat, I just have postassium supplements for a few days, and the problem disappears for weeks.

One of the (very few) perils of low carbing (that my body likes to throw out)

No idea if that little story is relevant to you, but it sure works for me.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. I know how awful it is, both as a person with the disorder and as a mum as my son has OCD and other anxiety issues. If I can help feel free to PM me.

Also with you on the night sweats. That's what sent me too along with the anxiety. Mine have improved but still get odd hot flashes. Last night was just pain all over my arms and right leg. The cold makes it worse.

Thank you. Last November my HbA1c was 115 and I was prescribed 3 x 500g Metformin daily. That, along with diet and exercise (walking daily), helped me a lot. I began LC around the end of January. Also my fat intake is between 65 and 75 %. Initially I kept below 50g carbs but nowadays I'm more between 40 and 80g with the odd 100g in a day. Having said that, I can't get away with too much and I never eat pasta, rice or potatoes. I have 1 small slice of burgen bread 5 days a week and I never eat cake or biscuits. I do have 85% chocolate sometimes. I eat lots of olives and oily fish. 2 eggs a day during the week. Full fat greek yoghurt and lots of nuts. I also eat cheese, mainly feta or mozzarella. The only meat I eat is chicken. Fruit will be berries.
I stopped my medication at the end of May and that's why I'm happy. I haven't done as much walking since September but I'm on my feet all day at work.
I just posted my result because I know others start high and I wanted them to know that things can get better ... Just like others did for me.
Thanks again. :)

Hi, Thanks for that peacetrain, although my figures at the outset were much lower than yours, what you describe above is not too dissimilar to what I am doing, maybe I'm not on so much fat as you and maybe have to increase it but I do eat all the meats. Certainly a great deal of veg's and lot of fish both oily like mackerel 3 times a week, salmon 2 x week and maybe some cod & tuna. I am not eating the bread every day like you, maybe twice a week 1 slice of seed sensations Hovis and a 1/2 Jacket potato is ok me. I may have to follow your lead I have never counted the Carbs I have all I know its low and my weight is still dropping. I can't move out of this regime as I had 4 new potatoes and a little pastry with gravy the other day, shot up to 11.3

I think you have reinforced for me, I'm not to far away from what I should be doing.
Thanks Neil

I will certainly pm you later, thank you! She is coming up 16 and that's too young to be like that. Bear with me as I have to go out at lunchtime but will back later x

7.2 here. Gutted after all those lovely 5's before and after meals yesterday :(

At least Monday's ultrasound indicated it could be my liver at fault and not my diet...

Happy Hump Day everyone :)

5.8 - cold but bright here in S Devon, nice day for a walk later.

On Friday I had my blood taken for the HbA1c.
I was diagnosed last November. I gradually reduced the medication and stopped altogether in May. My HbA1c in May was 35 (5.3%)and so I knocked off the final dose of Metformin. Today I got my result and whilst it's increased to 38 (5.6%) it's still within the normal range and achieved without meds. I'm very happy with this. Thanks to everyone on these forums I've come a long way. The hard work will always be required, I know that, but it's easier knowing you're all here to help . Thanks again :).

Well done you. That is a brilliant result after having stopped all meds. Big clap from me. :)

I haven't really recovered blood sugar wise from my horrendous afternoon at the Health Centre yesterday. Trying to fast for my cholesterol test by missing lunch did not help, then being wound up by the inefficient new HCA that did all my tests, got my weight wrong by 5kg which I didn't realise till I got home so have to put that right when I see the DN. Got my height wrong by an inch, tried 3 veins to get blood and still failed so sent me down to see a "proper" nurse who managed first time, asked where I inject my insulin (!!!), was there 1.5hrs in total after being kept waiting, and hungry enough to eat a scabby donkey and all its hay. Not a happy bunny, totally pee'd off, so I had fish and chips with mushy peas for my tea and shot up to the 7's for over 3 hours during the evening.

The good news is, an HbA1c was included in the blood tests, which I wasn't expecting as it's not due till the end of the month. Results by phone on Thursday. At least my awful levels last evening won't get counted!!!!!!!

Ye Gods Bluetit. That was an ordeal!

Scary.

My Mr B had a work physical last week. Surprised at how large the BMI was. Checked the figs and discovered that the young lady had been using the women's chart, not the men's.

Now, the man doesn't have a beard the size of a bear pelt, or exude testosterone like The Hulk, but he is 6'1", broad shouldered and turned up with 3 days of stubble.

I'm guessing the girl needs glasses.

Mary Hopkin was my ex sister-in-law's best friend. Her parents came to our wedding. She wasn't able to come as she was touring in the States at the time. She was a lovely girl, far too nice and shy to be a celebrity, but what a voice she had!
