Hi @Bluetit1802 mine are slightly going up and yours too is it coz of cold, mine is first winters so I am not sure at all.
My first winter of testing, too. If that is the reason, fingers crossed for a mild winter!

Do readings go up in the winter?
No idea, but many of us saw increases during that very hot spell we had in summer.
Wow loads of likes guys thanks. I LIKE IT TOO!! In fact I LOVE IT4.8 last night 5.5
Sounds like dehydration and concentration of glucose in blood?
Just read that caffeine is not good for insulin resistanceI like my espresso!
Perfect. " Roses are red my love violets are blue sugar is sweet my love but as a DX member not for me or for any of you"5,0 mmol on waking up.
13g of carbs from half a small banana and a 5,5 km walk later, my level has gone up to 6 mmol before breakfast of eggs and bacon.

"Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy...sunshine on my shoulder makes me cry!" Wow great reminder....Thanks
Why are they sO terrible. If the normal range is between 3.9 to 5.5. and you are doing this without meds. I sort of get it but its almost with the margin of error for readings. Be a bit KINDER to yourself.! Just like you tell everyone else!Terrible readings
6.0 at bedtime. No idea why as my average is 5.2.
6.5 at 2-45am bathroom visit
6.0 this morning
VERY BIG DOG!The delights of dog ownership, we have an over protective black lab gun dog, slightest movement in or out of the house can cause her to start, but would not change her for anything.View attachment 9085

In my rush to ease the concern I've missed the main point. Thanks @vit90. Well lets get to the bottom of it and sort it if anyone can @Bluetit1802I think it's the upward trend that bluetit is frustrated with but personally I'm with you![]()
Home glucose monitors are known to be accurate to +/- 15%.Yes I am doing a Newcastle style diet which I started on 18th November. Actually things are going surprisingly well with the diet and I am more active than ever; doing lots of walking and some interval training plus modest weights with the aim to improve cardiac fitness and counter any loss of muscle. Am eating small quantities of real food rather than going for diet formula shakes, etc.
Research I have seen does indicate a small percentage increase in numbers for capillary blood tests compared to lab venous tests but by less than 10%. The 5.6 to 6.4 difference from the same blood drop is not very impressive. That's almost 15%.
Home glucose monitors are known to be accurate to +/- 15%.
Sad fact but one we have to live with.

I am not sure that there is much benefit in comparing your last venous fasting glucose test result, which is just a reading at one specific point in time with your self test morning counts. Your hba1c score is a much better indicator of your progress and the average glucose count suggested by this score a better thing to compare with your meter average counts. They do not often completely agree us we only test a limited number of times during a day.Yes, this is well known, but I am seriously wondering if there is both a bias (4.5 compared with 5.5 - which is my average - is a 22% difference) for my Codefree monitor plus the accuracy issue or lack of consistency. After all 6.4 compared to 4.4 is a ridiculous excess of 50% difference.
Well done on your progress.Got my first reading in a morning down to the high 5's / low 6's from the high teens it was when I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago.
Still trying get rid of the slight increase I seem to get between my last reading before I go to bed and the first one when I get up: I've controlled it a lot by having something to eat (with no carbs) a couple of hours before I go to bed, but it still increases between 0.5 and 1.0 overnight.
A round 4.0 for me again this morning, at 9am. Trust me, that’s an almost unheard of time to be getting up on Plant Breathe. Both of us like mornings, but we’ve each been a little off-colour for a couple of days. You know the sort of thing; a sort of headache, a sort of snuffly nose, a bit tired, but all adding up to nothing to write home about? Anyway, we both had long and deep sleeps last night, so hopefully we may have knocked whatever it was on the head. We don’t “do” sick on this planet. Well, actually, we do occasionally, but it’s not with any grace whatsoever!!
Today is to be a planning and prepping day for a baking day tomorrow. Mr B is about to go pay homage to one of the most beautiful golf courses in the UK, with his brother, where his brother is fortunate enough to be a member. They’ll have a couple of days of doing big boy things – playing golf, driving fast cars, drinking beer and eating my baking. A batch of my famed cheese scones, plus a few other things are almost the entry ticket to Mr B’s brother’s house. These days, Mr B doesn’t ask me to bake, and actually he’s been pretty much off wheat flour for a while; thinking it gives him skin issues, so it’ll be fun to have the Kenwood out and in full flow for a few hours. And a couple of days of solitude will be just as nice as a few days partying for me.
In the scheme of things? Life could be so, so much worse. Play nicely boys and girls.
