Welcome - can't say I like your numbers but at least you are seeing the specialist which I hope goes well. I think my numbers were like that when first diagnosed but I didn't post here then. Do ask questions as people on here have really worked at bringing their numbers down.Mine fasting is 13.8mmg which is about 248 in American and Europe numbers, way too high and made worse by the awful heat we are having at present.
Seeing the specialist Thursday most likely for a change of medication as mine is too expensive for my surgery!
I'm not keen on my numbers either, I've been waking up feeling very hot, thirsty and dehydrated lately, I've been on saxagliptin for over a year but it hasn't moved my BS levels much, down just 2 points, I don't eat much anyway but especially not when it's hot but what I do eat I'm concious of.Welcome - can't say I like your numbers but at least you are seeing the specialist which I hope goes well. Morning folks, & a Happy Sunday from sunny Newcastle. It's gonna be a glorious day here. Might even fire up the BBQ at some point & hope I still have eyebrows left at end of the day. The last time I was BBQ chef, I think the flames were a tad too high...I blinked & my mascara melted my eyes shut. Sometimes, I'm just a disaster waiting to happen.
BG 4.3 today. Waaaay too low for me as I get a stinking headache with numbers like that. A nice slice of wholemeal toast with Nutella & peanut butter brought my levels up to a much better 5.0. Headache's subsided now I'm pleased to say. Guess we all have an optimum BG level which we function better at. No doubt many have no problem in the low 4's. But for me, it's plain unpleasant. Meh.
My pic of the day had me laughing stupidly. Wonder how many rolls of Duck Tape were used on the poor lad. Lol. I've seen a few similar pranks on my way to work at 6.30am...once I've established the person is ok, I go on my merry way chuckling as I do. They don't call Newcastle a party city for nothing.

You're underselling yourself by saying it isn't bad. The figures speak for themselves -they are good to very good. So, here I am, having survived another 13 hrs shift:-/
As I said, I seem to successfully have succeeded through another "what, and how much carbs I can still have", after declaring myself a "cereal, rice, potatoes and pasta FREE zone"
I ate 3 slices of GF tapioca bread, butter, italian dry cured salami, 4 boiled eggs, a small portion of cheddar, 8 mini plum tomatoes, small portion of boiled dry cured meat and mustard, all spread throughout 3 meals. I was able to do only 4 testings, as follows:
-morning FBG 5.0
-2hrs after midday meal 6.3 accompanied by a mild headache, which might have been caused by a prolonged exposure in an area with a very low set air conditioning??
-before evening meal 5.3
-4hrs after evening meal 5.5
After all, I guess it wasn't bad at all, and given I don't add any other carbs, a daily average under 40 grams, should be still safe;-)
Any ideas, suggestions, are welcome:-D
