Hi guys, I was put on metformin in March due to having numbers like 14.4 after two hours of eating and highest number was 23.8. I’ve come off them for 2 weeks now and my sugars spike and drop dramatically to the point I get a low alert. My libre is such a zigzag. Will my number eventually go back high ? I’m waiting for testing to see if I have MODY diabetes.

Am I currently having Hyperinsulinemia
and insulin resistance? Sorry it’s all so confusing for me I just want answers:(

hi @Grace30666 and welcome to the forum.
Firstly, we can diagnose and can only comment based upon our own experience.

Firstly, coming off Metformin has little affect on BG figures and would certainly not cause them to go lower!

Which medication(s) are you still on - if any ?

Do your BG numbers go up after meals and stay up at the 2hr post prandial mark before going low later, or do they go high and then start dropping hard sooner than that?

Has anybody mentioned RH ?

Hi thank you for your reply. I’m not on any medication atm as I’m waiting for the consultant appointment to run tests. Metformin was very bad on my belly. I’m so confused by it all, I’m sitting at 8.2 and I had dinner and pudding at 1810. Sometimes they go up and drop then go back up again. I had a spike at 3am at 9.4 then dropped to 3.9 at 6am then when I woke up they were at 7.2. It’s different everyday. Before I was on the meds they were high and took ages to come down to a normal number. It’s so confusing. What is RH? I also have high blood pressure which I’ve had for years

Did you double check the low alert with a fingerprick?
Libre is known to read a tad lower when dropping fast, or for some people it tends to read lower in general.

Have you adjusted your diet in any way since being diagnosed with diabetes?
Carbs tend to raise blood glucose, so it may be those high numbers were after carbheavy meals?
