Hi there I was diagnosed in June last year with type1,before being told the news about me being diabetic I had a small amount of psoriasis on my skull but since being diagnosed I now have it on my legs and body it starts out red blotches then goes scaley like has anybody else had this problem and is it related to my diabetes or just a coincidence I would much appreciate any help with this as no shampoo or creams iv used seems to be helping.

Unfortunately it can related to diabetes, have you been back to your gp and asked for something suitable to treat the condition?

I have been given a new cream to try so fingers crossed this is the one for me as iv tried loads of different ones without any success also a new scalp application as betnovate was not helping at all,I really did think it was something to do with my diabetes as it really flared pretty much right after I started with insulin and metformin, thank you for reply.

Hi Scott I have had psoriasis for about 47 yrs long before being diabetic It is mostly treated with Betovate cream and others also There are shampoo's to use T/Gel or one from the Dr called Polytar but it really does smell of tar the Dr can give you Betnovate Lotion for your hair if none of them work There is what is called Light treatment which is done at the hospital over a few weeks for a few minuets at a time it is likr a large round sunbed which you stand in please don't use a sun bed and it will go away but it will eventually return one you have Psoriasis it will always come back
The main thing is not to get stressed as this is the worst thing you can do as it makes the Psoriasis flair up after having it for 47 yrs I always say I have psoriasis psoriasis doesn't have me Sun shine is good for it once we have some sun
Over the years I have tried all the lotions and potions there is I would say if you see an advert saying they can get rid of psoriasis dont buy it it will not do it if you think those people who say they have the magic cream then dont you think all Dr's would have it now
After saying that have a word with your Dr for him/her to give you lotion and or cream they will know what is best for you but please don't Stress about it Hope this helps

I use T/Gel shampoo for my scalp psoriasis. Seems to work pretty well.

I am T2 and have had psoriasis for 34 years, sometimes a little and sometimes a lot, I have had quite a bit in my scalp but not for about 3 years I use head and shoulders for men even though I'm a girlie and don't was my hair too much, may be coincidence or just that I'm in that clear cycle.

I found once I got my bs under control my psoriasis improved, you can't beat sunlight in my opinion even on a cloudy day baring your skin for 20 minutes is benifcial- remember to wear sunscreen if you are doing this even on dull days.

Have you seen a dermatologist? If not ask for a referral there a lot of new successful treatments these days

I'm T2 but I started getting pustular psoriasis just after I was diagnosed with diabetes. I've read that if you have one you're more likely to get the other.

Hi Scott, I've used T Gel and betnovate its not worked completely, I've found best for me is Fullers Earth Cream if I'm not going out I smother my head thickly leave it a couple of hours then completely massage it in, and also a patch that I've got between my shoulders lasts a few days and then repeat the process, I've not got it as bad as I use too, might be because of good control of diabetes and no longer under stress as much.

see how the hydrocortisone creams go and google a 'psoriasis forum' to see all the other 'helps'
I found a hard core skin cancer treatment, efudex cream, put mine to sleep for a while. will need a skin specialist
