As a new member and a keen runner(although no longer able to cover the miles l used to) l am interested in members experiences of running and keeping BS control. I am now 68 and was diagnosed in january. After a few months inactivity l started running again, 3 or 4 times a week but am nervous about increasing mileage from the current 3 or 4 miles. By the way l think the forum is excellent and it has helped me a lot as l do feel a little isolated as us men dont talk about stuff!

Thanks. I have been reading about the low carb diet. Not sure at the moment, although my regime is certainly lower carb than pre diagnosis.

Hi @SMOGGIE99
There will be much better ways of putting this but as I understand it when asleep the body takes (something) from the blood to repair the muscles, so exercise during the day can cause blood sugars to fall during the night. (you could have something nice for super before bed if this happens to you).

I am on MDI and have been wearing a Fitbit. I find that if I cover a reasonable number steps during the day then my ratios are different at tea time/overnight. Test test test,, (and other fitness gadgety things are available). Enjoy your running x
