my daughter has had diabetes for a year now,she gets very worn out very quickly she has a good day a bad day,she as had a viruis but her blood levels are normal highest 11 but she has ketones middle level shes eeps drining they will go but she has to drink an awlful lot and she is phiyiscaly struggling to drin that much, the hosputal only made her her drink send her home free of ketones but there bac the next day.can any1 help or give some advise? thanks x :)

all of those symptoms sound as if her blood sugar is high. What did the hospital do - you say they just made her drink? Did they check her blood?
When she is drinking, what is she drinking, water?

Not sure of the age of your daughter Sally, but she really needs to get those numbers down asap. There is a course called DAFNE for ages 16+ which teaches type 1's to accurately match their insulin to the carbs they eat at each meal time, also they teach patients how to get their basal insulin correct and what to do when sick (sick day rules) it's very useful and most patients go on to improve their diabetes control and reduce their hba1c also.

There are also courses available for young children, perhaps other posters may be able to help you here as I am unsure what they are called.
