Hi there. My dad was told today that he has gone from type2 to type 1 diabetes. This is weight related and he hasn't managed his diet very welll at all. Is it too late for him to turn things around and maybe get back to type 2?
 
I would be very surprised if your father has gone from being a type 2 to being a type 1. Has he now been prescribed insulin to control his blood glucose levels? In that case, he would be an insulin dependant type 2. Being given insulin for BG control does not necessarily mean someone is type 1, there are many more factors involved than just taking insulin.
