I can't seem to find the formula or chart to convert US A1c numbers to UK and vice versa. What does my US 5.8 mean in UK numbers?

Here you go

Looks like 40mmol/mol to me.

I like this chart (and have it saved on my computer).
It converts both hba1c from mmol/mol to %, and blood glucose numbers from mmol/l to mg/dl.

It converts to a hba1c of 40 in the UK, and to make things even more confusing, this is just over the prediabetic threshold in the US but just under the prediabetic threshold in the UK.

Either way, you do not have diabetes with this result, and keeping a bit of an eye on your foods is likely enough to keep it that way. :)

Thank you! Now I can understand what my UK friends are saying about their results!
Hopefully you are also good at multiplying by 18 to understand their blood sugar readings. :)

Or you just use a chart like I do.
I have a lot of experience discussing diabetes all over the world but my mental tables of multiplication definitely don't go up to 18. In fact, they always get stuck with the tables of 7 and 8 and I'll need fingers to count. 18 is close to impossible without pen and paper.

This is another chart I regularly use instead of relying on my own math(s) skills.

Who uses pen and paper these days? Haven’t you a calculator on your phone? :p Saying that I have taken a screenshot of your very useful tables so thanks for that ;)
