I have a red almost bloody area under the cannula patch bigger than a 50p piece that looks like a layer of skin is missing. It's painful.

I have taken the pump off. It's been playing up for days despite constant set changes. Appointment Monday to go back to MDI for a while.

Also sorry to hear that :( it seems to be one problem after the other of late :( It does rather sound like an allergic reaction rather than infection ( guessing , as obviously I can't see it ) . Either way, keep it dry and let some air get to it. If it worsens seek advice . And that's my" Granny Sucking Eggs " bit of blather for the day  Sorry ! :D

Sounds sore and painful Spiker, what does your DSN say about it?

Maybe switching back to MDI temporarily isn't a bad idea, the problems your having lately must be so frustrating.

Ouch! :-(

... Sounds frustrating... And painful...! Hope they can offer a solution for you; know some people use a barrier spray to stop them having a reaction to the cannula tape...? The other reaction I've heard people have is to the Teflon sets, and for them using steel sets work better... Fingers crossed they help...

I don't think it was an allergy reaction as I never get that. I think it was a bad cannula insertion causing mechanical damage that led to an infected wound. Not sure why the skin degraded over such a big area though. Maybe a fungal compromise of the original wound (nice, TMI I know!)

Hmm. I bet no one is old enough and American enough to still think TMI means Three Mile Island?

I liked your post, not because you appear to be living up to your avatar in terms of fungal infections , but because it made me smile regarding TMI. and of course, I'm not American, and far too young ;):D

No, not TMI at all, it's relevant , and probable as you haven't had an allergic reaction up until now at least . Time to get it sorted though, if it's spreading and degrading. You know it makes sense ;)
