Unbelievable!! Disgusting!!

No, they were keen on that in the 1970's too. I was only 4 at the time, so got a very simplified version, but it was all about "exchanges". I rememer that I had 25 units, once a day, and was allowed 3 exchanges for each meal, plus 3 x 1 exchange snack.

12 x 15 = 180g, that's better than some more recent advice but still 2 - 3 times what I can handle

Interesting, I'd heard that other people from that era were on comparatively low carbs, maybe your doctors were ahead of their time? <sad grin>

When a Dietician says?
New thinking is "DON'T Eat Cheese? and Don't Eat THIS or THAT!
************ and************
You must NOT EAT A FUN SIZE MARS BAR If you "HYPO" (15carb)
What do you do? "DIE" or eat the MARS BAR
I think Dietician's DO NOT LIVE IN THE SAME WORLD AS WE  DO????

Hi Insulinman,

I do appreciate your comment about diatetic advice, but I have to say that a mini Mars is not the best way to treat a hypo. Fine if that is all you have to hand at the time, but the fat in the chocolate slows down the absorbtion of the sugar, which is what you don't need when treating a hypo.

If you tend to suffer the occasional hypo then far better to ensure that you always carry a tube of dextrose tablets.
