Hi.
I am a Type 2 diabetic (first diagnosed in 2000). I am an 80 year old male.
At 23 June 2026 I was on Galvumet 50/850 (1x at Breakfast, 1x at Dinner), Lantus (6 units at Breakfast, 6 units at Dinner) and NovoRapid pre-meals (doses based on pre-meal BG and carb counting). I currently use the Diabetes M app for BG and food recording and bolus calculation.
For the 31 day period up to that date I had been using Carb Factor settings of Breakfast 2.9, Lunch 3,7, Dinner 8.8 and an Insulin Correction Factor of 1.8.
On 23 June something changed. I was having Hypos all day that day. It wasn't any kind of diet change, it wasn't a change in exercise level, it wasn't a change in my general health.
The Carb Factors changed dramatically that day to Breakfast 4.5, Lunch 4.3 and Dinner 10.0, Correction Factor 2.0 - and they stayed at those new levels in a remarkably stable way for 39 days - at which point they largely regressed and became very variable.
A few weeks later, I took all my "nerdy" data to my GP and he decided we should cut out the dinner Galvumet dose. Given the change in medication, I needed to recalibrate the Carb Factors for my insulin doses. They are currently Breakfast 3.0, Lunch 3.3 and Dinner 5.7.
However, the variability has continued with Hypos still "coming out of nowhere".
I wondered at one stage whether I might have an insulinoma but, coincidentally, I then had a full body CT scan which I was assured (by a Urologist mind you!), showed nothing going on in my pancreas. Actually, the scan showed nothing going on anywhere which was nice to know.
Any ideas?
