Good afternoon,
Im not sure wether i should post this or not but its on my mind and has been now for sometime and I just feel that its something I need to talk about.
In April last year i received a call from missing persons that my ex husband has been found dead, he had type 2 insulin dependent diabetes and had this since birth he was born in 72. Anyway I had to deal with funeral etc as his family where all either too far away or unwell themselves.
His body was found after neighbours alerted police, on finding darren they found he had indeed been dead a good few months. A coroner eventually got letters from the drs, who said darren had stoped going in to get his medication in october the year before.
OCTOBER!!
Now my concerns are how can an insulin dependent diabetic be left this long without someone checking, apparently letters were sent, but on clearing the house no letters were found and he was a horder so its not as if they had been thrown away. The doctor had also wrote how highly depressed darren was and highly at risk of suicide. Yet he was left alone from October the year before till his body was found in the April.
is this neglect on NHS ? Should the dr have done more to find out why darren hadnt picked up insulin??
Sorry for this post it just goes round and round in my head and I guess im looking for someone who has some sort of answers.
Thanks Mazz
