Over the last couple of years my HB1ac was starting to rise, peaking at 61 in June this year despite my weight being stable, but too high at 16 stone. I was 18'5 when diagnosed, went down to 15 stone then very gradually gained a stone.

My HB1ac in June was 61 which I was unhappy about, as was the doctor so he suggested I try Ozempic, at 0.25mg for 2 months then 0.5. In the three months since I have lost a stone without being hungry, and I think I am eating about 500 less calories a day. My new HB1ac was down to 48.

I am hoping that as I lose more weight it will come down further. My diabetes does seem to be very weight related.

So what i wanted to say was that Ozempic seems to work really well, with minimal side effects for me, apart from some gastro-intestinal issues at the start, and sometimes sitting down for a meal that you just cannot force down.

Been diabetic now for 13 years with no complications.

Very well done on your improved HbA1c and your weight loss too. I too ended up deciding to go down the GLP 1 route. My HbA1cs were under control on Metformin and low carb diet, but my weight wasn’t. Due to mental health issues I couldn't get my weight under control. I have been on a GLP 1 med since May ‘23 and am now at a healthy weight. I continue to low carb and take a low dose of Rybelsus (oral semaglutide) as maintenance which was agreed at my review in May. I hope you continue to lose weight and maintain diabetic control with no side effects.
