Hi all not posted for a while, just a quick update. Just got tests results back. Got kidney disease now. Have been taking ramipril BP medication a while. Feeling rough to say the least. All sorts of symptoms from dizziness, sickness, aching. I don't get it like yesterday only took 2 units of Nova rapid and around 100 grams of carbs and it stayed around 7/8 untill night time then had huge spike and hours again to get it down. So looks like the delayed emptying of the stomach thing now. Along with loss of vision in eye etc. Think the complications are stacking up, I've accepted things as they are. Tried all sorts from multiple injections, low card don't drink caffeine, alcohol or smoke. Don't really need any advice IAM just one of the diabetes that has been affected quite a bit, shall we say. Ive accepted my fate i just hope for other diabetics in the future they get better access to the latest technology etc. Seems such a postcode lottery to who gets what. After nearly 33 years of t1d getting access to just a basic pump would be like winning the golden ticket from Charlie and the chocolate factory haha. Some things in life does count from who you know, where you live, and your financial status. The biggest one for me is DO YOU MEET THE CRITERIA haha. Obviously I don't for whatever reason. What iam trying to say is some people still struggle to maintain good control and try alot of things, so it is not all down to the individual. Even someone that has had diabetes for 32 years I still struggle to get good control, so for others out there strugglin know your not on your own. I hope you get access to the better technology. And you can lead a normal life with diabetes iam just at the other end of the spectrum. Take care all.

Gosh, Danny, that's a lot to take on board, I'm sure.

Relating to your kidney problems; have you been having regular blood tests since you started Ramipirl? I started on it when a 24hr monitor showed my BPP running a bit rich. Withing 6 weeks it was affecting my kidneys, so changed out onto Losartan, which did the same. As soon as those meds stopped (then retested after a couple of weeks) kidneys functioning well again.

On Amlodipine my kindeys seem to be holding up.

Of course, yours may be nothing to do wit this, but just mentioning it on the off-chance.

One other thing is a huge proportion of the population stroll around every day with impaired kidney function, knowing nothing about it, and not all kidney disease relates to diabetes.

Hi, thanks for replies, have been put on ramipril a while back as had a blood pressure around 240/120 and have protein in urine with abnormal liver and kidney function. Think they said blood pressure medication will help kidneys etc. Having another eye op next month had another bleed and can't see out of right eye. Had a detached retina too. Have them injections in other eye most months. Think it's just catching up with me abit. Trying alot like low carb. I quit drinking alcohol nearly 2 years back also I used to smoke nearly 2 years back quit that too. It's like the insulin seems to work sometimes then others doesn't do much at all or have a delayed reaction to what it's doing etc. And too how I cope, it's just take each day by day, cry if I need too. And just try to do what I can to improve things but realise Iam only a person and can't do everything by myself, sometimes some extra support is needed. IAM ñot worried etc at all what will be will be. I would just like other diabetics to know it can be hard, that your not on your own. There are a lot of diabetics that do try alot and still struggle abit. It can be hard at times. But all we can do is keep trying.

Thanks Danny for taking the time to post again. I have been thinking and praying for you. Sorry to hear that you have more health woes than even before. I admire your bravery in the face of it all.

Hi Jat, hope you are keeping well. IAM sort of at peace now. As a person there is only so much I can do myself, I've far from given up. I've done a lot in regards to improve things. I keep any appointments that come. I do understand why dia
betics get concerned about complications etc I was one of them. But over time I've realised I can only do so much. Maybe something will come along to help me a little maybe it won't, who knows. Life has a way to humble you. I have gratitude. I have my down days alot, but each morning I say to myself here we go again and keep trying. So wether I have 1 or an 100 years left il just try and be grateful for what I do have, because one of the worst places to be is to give up while your still alive.

I'm really happy to hear that and hope you keep posting here. Never give up -struggle builds spiritual strength (for me anyway). It's true that every case of diabetes is different and some, like yours, are much, much more difficult to deal with. My thoughts are with you.
