Hi ok, I said I would stop raving and panicking and be sensible but I have to ask someone what they think is going on when I see this kind of pattern so I know what to do.. I've been testing frequently or as and when I feel weird to work out patterns and to got ranting to the doctor with once I graph them

I haven't been getting much sleep lately and spent much of yesterday hypoing if it has any bearing

Blood sugar was 9.9 before dinner, but I kind of had to eat as I hadnt all day

After an hour it was 13.6

After 2 hours 11

3 hours 10

4 hours 10

Then I fell asleep and woke up hot and super hungry so had some crackers

Then 1 hour 10.3 (Lower than 13 ok fine)

2 hours 9.5 (going down, all is well)

3 hours 14

What the actual ****

How, what, why would it go down then up?

It's weird enough I get random hypos at times. And my fasting BS will be normal some days elevated others. And my problem USED to be chronic hypoglycemia. This makes no sense...

I try talking to my friend with T1 he's like 'that makes no sense at all'. You crazy, woman.

I've tested my meter with control solution and against others (my grandma's Accu Check and the ambulance used theirs after I told them I already knew my BG) not even 0.1 out.

Forgive the lapse in typing quality just all over the place right now :/

Hi my BS have been well, bonkers this week and stressing me out a lot. But I have had a sore throat since the early hours of Tuesday morning, no earache or temperature , just annoying, so that could be my reason. But it's possibly down to the food you ate and having crackers are carbs ,so that will put your BS up.

Sometimes Diabetes has a mind of his own and 'goes off on one' no rhyme or reason. Have you checked your vial at all ?

I have been reading about Brittle Diabetes and that apparently can swing the BS widly, but sometimes there just doesn't seem to be an answer.

Hope all is better today

Best wishes RRB

Thanks for responding...

I don't know... I mean my numbers are not as crazy as some I've heard in here but they're not 'normal'

I'm not on any medication, I'm not a diagnosed diabetic.

I'm must frustrated as hell. Recovered from anorexia, only just started reintroducing the foods I was afraid of into my diet and now something else to make me feel negative about food. I dont want to start denying myself or getting obsessive or starve myself again :'( Like I said the problem used to be hypoglycaemia so I had everyone around me (including my friend with T1) pushing me to embrace carbs.

Now this ****.

Freaking fed up of passing out and falling asleep after meals and waking up in the night puking my guts up. Just trying to figure things out and manage my levels by myself because I don't fit the 'profile' of a typical diabetic. They won't consider ordinary diabetes let alone an unusual form of diabetes. You guys have been a real help and support and my light in the dark

Yes the crackers were carbs but there wasn't much in the house... I was really hungry and nauseous and plain crackers have always been the go-to thing if I'm sick or can't manage to eat anything else. *** the minute I get used to eating like a normal person again :'(

What confused me was the lowering then raising again. I could understand that happening if I dipped towards the low end (like under 6 when I feel sick) but why then???! How can I stop that happening again? Am I seriously going to have to not eat carbs ever? I'm having some real arguments with my T1 friend if we order food in because he doesn't understand why I want to cut down on them when he happily eats all the fast food he wants. YOU NEED CARBS he keeps telling me, like he still thinks Im too skinny.

Arrggg What to do? Eat or not eat? Fasting was 7.7 today and haven't eaten anything yet at 4:20 pm. It's the only time on the last 24hours I've been under 8 but not like I can keep it up forever...

Sorry. FRUSTRATION. I'm trying to sort out my long list of health issues ASAP. I'm freaking 20. I have a degree to finish. I want to deal with it so I can just get on with my life and know nothing will get worse in later life because I fixed it now.

Sorry I just seem to be selfishly bitching but I guess I any vent about this to anyone else...

Sorry to hear you're a bit all over the place too.

Thanks for hoping I'm feeling better. I skipped breakfast and lunch today to finally get numbers back down, but sometimes if I leave it too long they creep up again

A sore throat is never fun :(

I know honey is sugar but honey, lemon and a bit of cinnamon can really help stave off a cough or soothe a sore throat. There's something about cinnamon that helps with a lot of stuff...

Aniseedy things help numb the throat,.,

Hope that sore throat doesn't become a full blown nasty and you feel better too x

Hi @LittleWolf,
You must be frustrated, I know I was before I got diagnosed!
Those of us who have these rare forms of endocrine disorders or suffer from Hypoglycaemia will be stuck with doctors and even endocrinologists who haven't been trained up in recognising them.
I had to have a hypo in my doctors surgery to get a referral!
Then I was lucky enough to get an endocrinologist who recognised the symptoms and knew that I had something unusual going on!

I cannot eat many carb laden foods, I am intolerant to so many food groups, such as wheat, grains, dairy, rice, potatoes and so on. Having realised that I needed to get control of my blood glucose levels, I decided after a lot of testing and experimentation that I had to go ultra low carb, because being without carbs is far better than having. They make me ill!
No carbs, fit and healthy!
Carbs, unfit and unhealthy!
So you can guess which option I chose?

The falling asleep after food is symptomatic of Hypoglycaemia, indeed there was an article in the Mail on line, in the femail section, I'll try and post the link later, if I can!

I don't need carbs, my liver provides the necessary for my brain function, my body uses fat for its energy and I never lack any energy since I started to avoid the baddies!
I am in ketosis, have been for over two years now, it has been brilliant and I wouldn't go back to how you are now!

There is always an alternative to carbs!

Regardless of whatever condition you actually do have you, need to pester your GP, to get a referral to a specialist in Hypoglycaemia!

Don't give in, keep fighting, keep annoying your GP, never mind what anyone else says, you know your body better than anyone, if you decide to cut out those foods, only your true friends will always back you.
Hope this helps!

@LittleWolf I am just going to ask why you are taking so much advice from your Type 1 friend, who is obviously injecting insulin. Of course he can eat carbs, as many as he likes, because he can then inject enough insulin to cover these carbs and keep his levels fairly steady. You can't do this, you have to rely on your own insulin working properly. For anyone other than an insulin user, carbs are not a good idea unless and until you are in a real hypo situation. All they will do is push your levels up further.

I can't explain why your levels jumped to 14 at 3 hours. It could have been a contaminated finger or a rogue strip (we all get them). It does seem you weren't having a good night's sleep as you kept waking and testing every hour. That in itself could be a reason. Did you re-test that 14? A surprise result is always worth a re-test.

I am certainly a type 1 who can't just eat carbs, inject and stay steady. Wish I could. 20g or less of carbs a day works best for me!! Otherwise, roller coaster, fatigue, insomnia etc. low low low carbs for this girl!!!
