I agree with debloubed, the Dr sounds like a right nasty type, he deserves to be reported for the way he treated you. Let's hope your complaint has the desired effect and you are treated with respect the next time you visit the clinic. These people need to be put in their place. Preferably out of a job !
I presume the Bg reading of 8 down to 7.4 was your HbA1c levels. Surely any improvement should have been praised, not complained about. Let us know how you get on.
Your post made me think about something another type-1 said to me recently. It was referring to 'modern' synthetic insulins. How docs think they can make our lives' more like that of a 'normal' person. We can eat when we want ,as the insulin acts so rapidly; or the long-acting apparently has a completely flat profile. What we,and medics need to remember is that we are people with diabetes, and while we strive for the same bs control as non-diabetics, the cost of being on insulin comes at a price. If we were to inject 20 units and indulge in a box of chocs, we know the cost would be the 'high' and then the inevitable 'low'. Easy to see how patients could be misled when we are constantly told by dietitions that our diet should revolve around carbs, carbs and more carbs; take your injection so you can eat your carbs.Gazhay said:attended a carb counting course with someone who refused to keep sugars below double figures because he didn't want a hypo. I met someone else who "just injects 20 units if I want a box of chocolates".
