Urgent! Messed up levemir dose!

I've just taken my 12 units of levemir for before I go to bed. I put the needle in my thigh and injected the levemir and it really hurt because I think I hit a muscle. Stupidly I pulled it out after about 2 seconds after injecting but I normally keep it in for about 10 to be sure. What should I do? I'm not sure if I received the full dose. Thanks.

P.s I take only one dose of levemir a day which is before bed
 
The best you can do is keep a close watch on your BGs and take correction shots of NovoRapid tomorrow if your levels go high.

Ok thank you. I was just a bit unsure as I didn't know of it was worth the risk injecting anymore but I guess it's easier to correct for a level that won't be that high as it's basal than have a bad low during the night

Yes - too much risk of hypo during the night if you take any more Levemir :eek:
 
Hi Amrit, Can I recommend your change the location of where you inject, I used to use my legs as recommended by my DSN but don't have much fat and time to time would get an ouch, so now inject in my bum, I never hit a muscle (surprise surprise) just a nice big area of fat !! Never have a problem now ;)

If you hit a muscle, that wont' be an issue with Levemir. If you injected the full dose before removing the needle, then, even only leaving the needle in for 2 secs post injection is very, very unlikely to have delivered an incorrect dose.

In my view you had little to worry about, but as @robert72 says, if you are ever concerned, just keep a sharper eye on your BG levels.
 
Update - forgot to update earlier but level was ok in the morning, around 6-7 I think. Was a bit higher after breakfast but I expected that but they are all fine now. Thanks for the Help! I'll try and inject in my bum/just above it and good to know that hitting a muscle won't be a problem with levemir. :)
