urinalysis and detection

I know an urinalysis cannot be used to properly diagnose diabetes however, these pee stick tests do detect levels of glucose and ketones in the urine sample.
Say you did have high blood sugar which was uncontrolled would some levels of glucose and ketones be detected in a sample? Also I know that levels of gravity can be assessed here, therefore could be used as a diagnostic tool for someone who could have diabetes insipidus?

My diabetes was detected as the result of a simple pee test which was part of a medical for an insurance. Further tests were required for a "proper" diagnosis.

Urine strips are an indicator not a diagnostic tool. You cannot use them at home to diagnose yourself, save your money and see a GP with regard to your symptoms.

Peoples kidneys spill glucose into urine at different threshold levels of glucose in the dlood with quite wide variation between individuals. Because of this fact, urine dip stick tests are much less accurate than blood tests as an indicator / diagnostic tool for diabetes
