My savoury slice recipe has evolved (even though I am a creationist.)
4 oz (120 g) grated cheese - I chop it with my food processor
6 oz (170 g) grated carrot - I chop them with my food processor
5 oz (150 g) ground almonds
1 tsp baking powder
season to taste (cinnamon, herbs, etc)
(partly replace 30 g ground almonds with oat bran, wheat germ, gram flour, soya protein)
sieve together
3 eggs
1½ - 2 oz (40-50 g) soft marg (Benecol) or softened butter
tomato puree
mix together & add water if necessary to get a dropping consistency
Preheat the oven to 175°C
Butter a bread tin, add & smooth the mix & bake for 45 minute in a fan oven (may take longer in a standard oven.) Check its done with a skewer or thin knife.
I use a silicone bread "tin" 100x230 mm (4"x9")
Turn out on a wire rack after 10 minutes.
Less than 20 g carbs per loaf.
Keep in the fridge in a plastic box - 3 days
Use as normal bread, though I haven't tried it in the toaster - slices are too small.
Use a cream cheese, add sweetener, fruit, cocoa, etc & you have a low carb cake.
