I was assessed as being diabetic last week. Still learning what foods to avoid or to have. I'm not seeing doc or dietician for at least two weeks. In meantime, have given up the two bottles of wine a night, given up salt, began to walk rather than take bus.
I htink that I have to eat as much low GI foods as possible. So am now eating a portion of different types of beans each day, eating bigger portions of veg (esp brocalli, cabbage), eat lots of poridge in any case. Don't eat white bread. Eating considerably less meat and much more fish esp pilchards, mackeral and trout.
I'm the person that does the cooking in my house and I was on verge of converting to a more vegetarian diet in any case.
Could someone, please, confirm that I'm more or less on the right path until I see the dietician.
Thanks.
