- Liquorice and aniseed (especially the tracer I have to drink in hospital before a CT scan - yuk!)
I'm just jealous. I have seen courgettes, but aubergines are a distant memory!PMSL
You make your meals look very posh xxxOn holiday today and became the proud owner of two aubergines and four courgettes
Brunch: fry up with all the trimmings
Dinner: tried something new - Za'atar rubbed baked aubergine
http://www.onearabvegan.com/2015/11/zaatar-rubbed-baked-eggplant/
I used Alpro yogurt instead of labneh (?) and had it with olives, cherries, mint, walnuts and hummus blobs. Tasty.
Sounds lovelyB: Blueberry muffin & latte
L: Baked potato & cheesy beans
Snack: Dextrose, chocolate hobnob & HP toast -> This was because I managed to hypo despite all the previous carbs - doh!
D: Roasted beet, carrot & onion tarte tatin, Parmentier potatoes, wheat berries & lentils. Hazelnut & chocolate gelato.
I wish I could say I spent hours slaving over a hot stove for my beloved, but Waitrose reduced it to minutes! No bubbly for me, but it was all very pleasant.
Glad you are eating better xI ate better today...
B: Jamie's granola dust (I still have plenty left)
L: A crumpet
D: "Paella" (I used veg sausage and brown rice, so not remotely authentic, other than the saffron!)

B: golden milk

D: courgetti in pesto with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and flaked almonds
Snack: cashews
Here we goAvo - Could you tell me again how you make your golden milk?
Here we go
http://www.whereismyspoon.co/turmeric-paste-for-golden-milk/
I use unsweetened almond milk and add a pinch of Truvia while warming the paste in the milk.
Hmmmm indeed.Hmmmm.
I had made the paste some days ago, and I have used it in some recipes requiring turmeric (like this evening, The Incredible Spice Men's Spicy burger,......... nom, nom, nom). I did also try Golden Milk, using almond milk I had in the pantry and whilst the paste is pretty decent in food recipes, I didn't care too much for the golden milk. I'll try it again, with less paste and less sweetener as it tasted very sweet to me, but also had a very bitter aftertaste.
I was really hoping to like it.
Hmmmm indeed.
I've just googled that spicy burger.
*points at naughty step*
Chin up @PurpleArmadillo Carbs are so addictive so it is no wonder we all fall a bit sometimes. Pringles were not joking when they came up with, "Once you pop, you can't stop!" I think this applies to all carby stuff when we have insulin resistance so don't be hard on yourself.Hi all
Just catching up. Been awol for a while! Chuckling at the courgettes and aubergines saga. Bizzarely enough here in darkest Northumberland we've had plenty of both, but on a couple of supermarket visits not a single tomato for sale!
I've been really struggling with low carbing. It's like once I let myself have a little treat the floodgates are opened. This week I'm on a huge effort to get back to where I was though. I've made a load of fat bombs again - cacao & brazil nut, and tonights dinner was baked eggs, tomatoes, onions, peppers & avocados.
Going to start making a seed porridge in the mornings. I've never been a breakfast person, but I'm still struggling with really high morning readings, and if I don't eat they just keep going up.
Just kind of fed up with everything right now. I've always been a huge foodie, and I love cooking and baking for the family. It was probably my biggest hobby tbh. I had a lot of enthusiasm at the start, and I naively imagined I'd somehow 'cure' this with diet. Now I can see that I'm going to be in this for the long haul I feel pretty dispirited.
Yes, I think you get more mileage out of a big slice of Burgen.Hi @Avocado Sevenfold
I'm enjoying Tescos' high protein bread you recommended, although I'm sure one reason it's low in carbs is simply that the loaf is quite small.
Anyway, I'm supposed to eat more protein, so that's fine by me.
