Mmmm, could just go some peanut butter on toast.... but one slice wouldn't be satisfying enough....B: Peanut butter on toast
L: Hummus & salad sandwich
D: Tofu & veg stir fry (not really authentic Chinese unless a little ginger counts) with cauli-rice
Good news: when I returned from my hols, I had a letter waiting with a hospital appointment next week to dilate my duodenum
yesterday, I did my own 'raw' version of the wagammama warm tofu chilli salad. sliced and marinaded the tofu in soy-sauce, fresh ginger, hoysin paste, sesame oil and soy-millk to dilute. grated/sliced/spiralised salad veg with sugar snaps & baby sweetcorns. actually did look a bit like this - centre picture https://www.wagamama.com/our-menu/salads https://www.wagamama.com/our-menu/saladsB: Peanut butter on toast

I've tried Lidl's low GI cob but never been able to test after....very yummy....Hi @Sable_Jan
I'm using LivLife low carb bread so I can have as many slices as I want! (two's enough for me)
Hope all goes well with the op. With luck you were first down and back up in the wards recuperating now...I made a creamy courgette lasagne tonight (BBC recipe): pleased with the result.
My last supper; op tomorrow, so fasting followed by a week of liquid/sloppy food :-(
Sorry to hear the op couldn't go ahead......Thanks @Sable_Jan, @Odin004
It was all very efficient and on time, but a failure. The surgeon said there was too much inflammation and it would be both pointless and risky to perform the dilation :-(
I've been advised to eat smaller portions (ok) and a "low residue" diet, which means low fibre such as white bread, white rice, etc - not great for a diabetic vegetarian! I need to discuss with my pet dietitian (daughter). I also need to see my GP to get more medication that'll help digestion.
At least I'm home and don't need to eat baby food for a week!
Are they proposing you follow the low residue diet temporarily or is it a keeper?Hi @Odin004
I saw my dietitian-daughter yesterday: she doesn't see how a low residue diet is practical for me. We went through my food diary (MyFitnessPal) and just about everything I eat for every meal is high fibre (other than eggs and tofu). It'd be difficult to survive more than a few days on such a diet: (it's often recommended for 3 days pre-surgery and long term for conditions such as Crohn's). I'll wait until I have the follow up with the surgeon as I didn't speak to him: it was was a nurse who discussed the post "op" report with me. I will make more effort to split large meals into two though.
Your suggestion to delay my bolus is valid, but I only have a problem about once or twice a week, so I think this would cause too many spikes for the rest of the time.
Thanks for the Turmeric tea advice: I've just bought some Pukka; I'm guessing it's an acquired taste :-(
Hi @Avocado_Sevenfold
I tried the Golden milk for a month: quite enjoyed it, but it didn't help, or hinder. I was always paranoid about staining everything from worktops, to carpets, to my teeth!
Thanks @Sable_Jan
