Hi all. Does anyone have any experience with T2D and verruca treatments? I bought some salicylic acid plasters and bazooka gel and they took a decent layer of hard skin off he top but the stinging was a touch uncomfortable (though normal) and I didn't really want to try it again, what with the warnings on the products saying don't use if diabetic. I have perfect circulation in my feet and heal quickly (burned my foot with a hot water bottle a couple of years prior to diagnosis) so the risk was worth it, to me.

As I don't want to go back down the salicylic acid route again, has anyone tried the OTC freeze sprays? I had a couple of warts on my hands back in my teens and the doctor froze them and they were gone in no time. Has anyone tried it out?

I tried a freeze spray on my daughter (not diabetic). It wasn't as effective as I hoped it would be and I've never re-bought it.

I'm very nervous about putting anything on my feet, so if I had a verruca I'd be tempted to speak to my surgery nurse and get it sorted.

Freeze spray shouldn't be used by anyone with decreased sensation s you can cause a freeze-burn before you feel it. Ask you doctor about salicylic acid treatments but they are generally safe and the doctor can prescribe a stronger gel than what can be bought over the counter. Failing all this, ask for a referral to Dermatology who will also prescribe the stronger gels. I had Cantherone treatment, which is a toxic extract from a mexican beetle, applied by a Dermatology CNS. It causes a huge and excruciating blister to form, but three treatments over several months, got rid of the world's worst verrucas.:arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll be going anywhere near Cantherone given the choice, an excruciating blister on the foot won't go down well working in security. I think I'll speak to the DSN about having it frozen at the practice, I've had poor pain sensitivity since childhood (not gotten any worse mind) so even though I heal quickly I don't want to do any unnecessary damage.
