Very Confused

Hi everyone,

Probably a silly question but feeling confused. I had a Bg of 7.4 last night before bed but have woken up this morning with a Bg of 8.6. Surely my Bg should have come down overnight not up???

If you put "dawn phenomenon" in the search box at the top of the page you will find lots of threads on the subject..
Your liver can dump some glucose in the early morning to get those lazy bones out of bed.. hence the raised sugar.. it takes a while for your morning readings to come down..(took mine about 6 months of very low carbing) but it does happen.. I was 4.8 this am and have a bit of a headcold...

Thanks everyone, makes more sense. Have recently been put on glicazide after bad reaction to metformin and have not had a hba1c yet
