Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
So today I finally had enough of dealing with the symptoms and went to the gp on my own. The gp tested my blood sugar and it came out to be 9.1.
She said that it is high but could not find anything in my urine
she is unsure about what could be causing it
I have an appointment for another random blood sugar test on friday
What do you guys think??
Thanks

It sounds like your doctor isn't taking you seriously.

9.1 is high unless you had eaten sugary stuff or a lot of carbohydrate an hour or so beforehand. Did she ask you when and what you last ate? When did you last eat - and what was it?

Did she say anything else?

Why is she doing another random glucose test? Did she explain? A random test doesn't really mean anything. What you need is a fasting glucose test and an HbA1c. Perhaps you could ask for these when you go on Friday. Another random test is a waste of time, to be honest. What time is your appointment? If it is early enough in the morning you could fast for around 10 hours beforehand (Fasting means no food and only water to drink) That would produce a more realistic figure.

The last thing I had was an orange 2 hours before my appointment and she didn't seem all that concerned but when she told me it was 9.1 i was very shocked. She didn't say anything about why she was giving me another random blood sugar test!!
I can't fast as it is after school but I'll ask for a HbA1c. Thank you very much

She did also say that my heart rate was very fast as it was around 110 but I don't know if it links. And I have lost weight around,2 kilos!!

It is not necessary to fast for a HbA1c test, but only for lipid tests these days. Also sugars need to be a bit higher than that to show in urine normally.

Could be an infection giving you a higher heartrate ? Do you have a fever ? To diagnose a person with diabetes two random High blood glucose samples is demanded . But some People do get a higher blood glucose when They are ill so try to relax and maybe avoid carbs
Or a thyroid problem can also give High heart rate

I dont have a fever and i am limiting my carbs but i dont eat alot of carbs in my diet, its just mainly chicken and soup

The fast heart beat may simply be the reaction to being at the gp. In other words 'white coat syndrome. Try counting the beats yourself when you are at home and relaxed.

I'm so glad you went to the doctor but I can't believe they didn't do an HBA1c. I thought you had a fasting blood sugar of 7.8 a couple of weeks ago? The good news is that if you're T1 you're still quite early in the process as your blood sugar is high but not outrageously so. Hopefully your doctor will do an HbA1C on Friday and actually give you a diagnosis. Good luck.

@Fluffy12. I have the same issue as you have about anything over 7.8 mmol here in Australia. My brother just died of Liver Cancer and was a Type 1 Diabetic with a Pump and Metformen and I am super strict about having these carbs and numbers right. In Australia I get the run around from many Doctors. Keeping my BG at 5.0 to 7.0 is my goal. I now go to a endocrinologist to straighten this whole mess out and while this Forum can not give you Medical advice, they have been super good to me. I concur with you Fluffy.

Yes, I agree with you.
I'm a type 1 diabetic dvla Swansea arranged a medical to renew my 3 year driving licence medical.during the medical the GP done a blood pressure test. he then told me to go and sit in waiting room, then i was sent to another room for a ECG the reading
i have a fast heart rate the conditions called AF I'm on betablocker and a blood thinner. because AF can cause Strokes in oaps . honestly i feel great . only one slight problem the beta blocker effects diabetes BG tests it increases the BG levels.
