Hi
I have diabetes type 2 and control it by diet. Recently I have been suffering from excessive thirst leading to excessive urinary output, very sore and split genialia and dry, peeling, cracking hands and feet. Do you think this means my diabetes is not being controlleb by diet? Thanks Deb. :( :(

Hi Deb,and welcome to the forum. Can you tell us what your blood sugar levels are ?
Hi Sue

I don't ever check them and have never been told to do so - I have 6 monthly checks at the diabetic clinic and that is all.

Deb

I think you should see the doctor ASAP as the symptoms sound like your blood sugar level could be high.If you read round the forum you will find that we advocate testing blood sugar levels every day so that you know what your control is like.

Thanks Sue

I have an appointment on Wednesday (the earliest I could get). I'll keep in touch.

Please ask your doctor for a blood testing meter and test strips. You may not get but it is important that you be able to test your blood daily so that you know which foods are making your blood suagrs go up.What sort of diet are you on for your diabetes.?

I agree with Sue, make sure you make a fuss, testing Blood Sugar is essential how else will find out how your diet affects BG.
Can you tell us what your diet consists of :?:

Regards Graham

Another thing,Deb,ask your doctor for a prescription for Diprabase or something similar for your dry skin, that must be very painful for you.

also check out the other sites in the stickies, and read the Success Stories thread

You *really* need to do your own testing so you can discover for yourself how to control this thing.

Diabetes is something you can do a lot about for yourself, you really need doctors who cheer you on rather than obstruct you in your work.
