I am sorry I have posted again about my levels. but I am quite excited about them being lower than normal.

As I mentioned last night before bed I was 5.0 which is the first time I have had this low number. Today my numbers have been 6.4 from getting up, so expected this a little higher, then 5.7, 5.9, 5.8, 5.8, just gotta wait until tonights number. so mostly under 6.0 all day.

I log everything I eat on my iphone with the app My Dairy Net Pro, which gives me all the nutrional values, and I see a pattern. My levels started going down on Sunday and the app reflects this in the following way:

Saturday I had way to many calories 3346, fats were 198g, carbs, 39g, net carbs 34g and sugars 5g. The carbs and sugars are about within my usual limit carbs at the max.

Sunday, calories were 2804, fat 130g, carbs 15g, net carbs 13g, sugars 16g I had much less carbs, but more actual sugars than normal.

Monday, calories were 1530, fat 115g, carbs 15g, net carbs 11g, sugars 10g again much less carbs, but a little more actual sugars than normal.

Tuesday (today) calories are 2096, fat 170g, carbs, 21g, net carbs 16g, sugars 9, once again less carbs, but a little more actual sugars than normal.

I have been usualy having about 25g-35g carbs and between 3g-6g sugars. Looking at what I have eaten, it appears that lowering my carbs and having a little more sugars have had a good effect on my blood glucose and the calories vary so not making to much impact with calories. my fat is higher than recommended by the app (which I put all my details in too).

a little less carbs and more real sugar (just a wee bit) and this is working for me at the moment, I dont feel hungry at all, and sometimes whilst having lunch I feel full and dont finish it.

I am also still on just 1 x 500Mg Metformin in the morning, I take 1 cinnamon pill and 1 mutlivitamin pill each day.

Also not listed I have 1 or 2 black americano coffees with Stevia most days with 1 or 2 small chunks of 85% Green n Blacks Dark Choc.

Yay me!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

you are more than entitled to feel pleased with yourself! I think the point you make about finding out what works for you is a really important one. well done!

I think, Bio, that that little bit of sugar makes sense in that it 'wakes up' your pancreas a bit to do a little bit more insulin for you, or what do you think?

It's the same sort of advice we seem to get to get DP to stop in the morning and I've found for myself something similar that just a wee bit of something (like 2 raisins lol) will remove a bit more blood glucose than being extremely 'spinach only'.

Not sure if it would work for everyone and I'm certainly different because I also have to inject insulin - but I have about half my production left compared to what I need, and I seem to be able to provoke that a bit into working.

But balancing act it is :)

W/D though

Thanks, I was thinking about the increase in sugars to slow DP in the morning and I think that in my instance this may be the key at the moment, as my body is reacting good to this. As regards carbs this I think shows how the carbs turning to sugars cause the body to react bad as this shows in me that sugars are not as bad as carb sugars.

I was 5.9 this morning. :D

Yes I am looking forward to my HBA1c next time and also looking outward to telling my DN I have ignorred her advice and not taken the extra metformin and not increased carbs.

I ended up on 5.7 :D

Your average blood sugar for the day is then 5.8 which converts to an HbA1c of 5.1% - if you keep up that sort of control you will be in a brilliant HbA1c range and possibly in the 4% club.

Have a look at the Tool Kit bit on the main D.co.uk site for blood sugar to HbA1c converters to play around with.

Very well done to you! I'm very jealous! :D

Thanks, I will take a look, hoping thatme levels stay around this and not deviate too much.

Excellent result, well done. Just one thing on the "net carbs"; in the UK, the dietary fibre content is already taken off the "total carbs" figure shown under nutrition, so if you're doing this again to arrive at "net carbs" you're double-counting the fibre content. "Net carbs" is an American thing where they show total carbs WITHOUT fibre taken into account. Over here, you should just look at total carbs which is already "NET". It does get confusing if you buy things like Atkins bars (which I do) which talk about net carbs; don't quite seem to add up whatever you do to allow for fibre, polyols etc, so I just look at the total carbs figure for them as "worse case"
But well done again on great results!
