very high blood sugar level

too high, please take him to A&E and get them to help. I am sure if they test they will find ketones due to the symptoms you are describing. Let us know how you get on, don't bring him home until his numbers are below 10

All the best, Deborah

ok he just did his bsl its 26.3

Karen, as others have said, you need to take Andy back to A&E where he will get the appropriate medical attention to bring these levels down.

really hope youve gone to hospital, i was in a similar position on diagnosis and told if id not gone to hosp that night i probably wouldnt have woke the nxt day, let us know how u get on :D

Hope everything is OK!

I too was sent home with a crazy high blood sugar - diagosed wrongly with type 2 becuase of my age (41) - Im type 1! thankfully the kind people of this forum got me back to hosp - quite possibly saved my life!

I have recently complained about my treatment and the hospital say they have changed their procedures!

It seems to happen to so many people - diagnosed by age!

Hope we hear from them soon!

hi all thanks for telling me to take him it was this site that made him go other wise he wasnt going we have just got back from a&e they put him on a drip again and also gave him a long lasting jab of insulin and sent a fax to his gr saying he need to be put on insulin asap so we have to go to the gp in the morning thanks every

Hi

Really glad you got to the hospital and there is now a plan in place to help him get the treatment he needs!

Take care, things will get easier!

Catherine

really glad you went, it couldve saved his life, now on insulin he should start feeling better :D

Karen

I would while you are at the doc, asked for hubby to be refered to the hospital consultant, I personally under the circumstances request that a hospital visit is arranged for that day with the hospital diabetic team, so the can start him off on his insulin regime..

As he will need to have several (lots) of things explained, firstly how to load the insulin pen and attach a needle, best practice and how to inject.. when to test, what to include in his record diary (my opinion the more info, the better picture painted) how to use keto sticks, sick day rules and hopefully straight onto a carb counting regime...

Ask the what courses they do for diabetics and ask to be enlisted asap..

And of cause there is always us lot here who will give as much informtaion as possible..

Large learning curve, but don't worry it does get easier as you and hubby get your heads around it all..

Remeber no question is silly if you don't know the answer

Karen, I am so glad you took him and you have an appt with the GP, I was quite worried about you/him last night! Let us know how you get on today, it's a steep learning curve but you/he will pick it up quickly I am sure :D

Hi all! Firstly can i say a big thank you to all of those who have given Karen advice regarding me, very kind of you. Secondly im glad i went to hospital yesterday and acted on all your advice, as i feel i am starting to get somewhere now as regards to my condition. By the way i feel better than i have done for a ccouple of weeks now, take it this is down to the insulin. To be honest yesterday was the last straw so to speak, i just couldnt carry on feeling like that. Well now i have an appointment with the g.p and diabetic nurse this morning, so hopefully things will go well. We will let you all know what happens. And thank you everyone so much, once again! Cheers, Andy.

hya andy,
glad u are feeling better, you should pick up in leaps and bounds now,
amanda(type 1)
