Very high sugar levels

Since I was diagnosed September 2011, I've struggled with high sugars. I've only been on insulin for a week, and it's yet to make a difference. At work today, my sugars are 16 and I feel like punching someone. I've been shaking, I'm tired and my head is pounding. I've burst into tears 3 times today (hiding in the toilets). What can I do to bring my sugars down whilst I'm in my office job? I'm drinking loads of water. I've got my lunch break in an hour and I'm scared to eat. What can I do? I can't handle this, and I'm not seeing the consultant until next week :'(

Take some deep breaths. Go out side at lunchtime even if its cold. Clear your head a little bit. I have also had a "punch your face out" week so far and know that its wrong.
I am not able to advise what to eat but I would like to sympathise with you being scared to eat. I have felt that. Why not stick to some raw veg and humus, fish -mainly no carbs there, nuts, seeds, I know its not a lot but there are many many "safe foods" you just need to find your ones. MOST OF ALL, lots of deep breaths, count to ten and smile before exploding!

Thank you for your reply. Had a good old cry, don't expect that helped. Sugars are just as high today, but at least I didn't feel the need to punch anyone! I made a point of apologising to my colleague for being so miserable yesterday!

As nike said, look at eating low carb foods, but don't not eat!! I made that mistake, and it only makes things worse!

Deep breaths, stay calm and remember it takes a while for you to see a difference! But you will!
