The doctor recently told me I have to take pills to control my blood sugar which was 325 at the time. The pills seem to work just fine but I'm curious about getting very lightheaded and dizzy from time to time. I feel as if I'm going to pass out or puke or both. What's the cause, what's the solution?

Thanks - rev

metformin? this can upset your belly for a week. there's is a slow release one that may help
it may also be a response to the lowering of your sugar BG, till your body gets use to it.

diet is the main treatment for T2

Thanks Jack! I'm in Mexico and the pills here are called GlucoVance.

I will have to get up to speed on all this because it's very new to me. I can't stand the idea of watercress and carrots for life, I'd gladly trade a few years for whiskey and bacon. I've never been very good at moderation or discipline - doesn't bode well :)

I will check out all your links.

Thanks again - rev

No! Not water cress and carrots! Bacon, butter, high meat content sausages, salmon, steak, chicken, fish, all the veg you can handle, cheese, cream, eggs, peanuts, nuts of any kind, small quantities of berries, lentils, pulses.
Just avoid bread, pasta, rice and potatoes as well as sweet stuff and you'll be fine! If you're carrying any excess weight it'll slide off!
The link @jack412 has sent you is by a practising doc in Sweden, who specialises in diabetes and obesity and he's fab! Good luck!

Jack/Scandichic:

I wanted to be fat so I'd be more difficult to kidnap but nobody wanted to, so now it's time to be a loser. No sugar or starch is pretty easy (the Swede was fab). I have nerve damage in my feet and I can't walk on hard surfaces, that makes the shower even more terrifying than usual so I'm looking forward to losing weight.

Thanks to both of you for all the encouraging words and material!
