I have pretty good control of my glucose levels (in fact according to my GTT last year I'm not actually diabetic), so I don't test continually. Haven't tested over the summer so I thought I'd start for a few days just to keep an eye on things, tonight I've had a very odd reading.

Monday:- 2 hours after usual breakfast of unsweetened muesli, nuts, strawberries, apple and natural unsweetened yoghurt 6.7. A bit higher than usual but I may have gone over the top on the muesli as I was using a larger dish. Lunch was a slice of Quiche with some coleslaw and a couple of tomatoes and gave a more expected 5.8 after 2 hours. 3 hours later pre dinner and after a short walk I was 4.8. For supper I had pasta and sauce (mainly to see what the effect would be) and after 2 hours I was a disappointing 8.6. 2 hours after that pre bedtime I was back at 6.

Tuesday: - same breakfast left me at the expected 4.9 after two hours. Lunch was a sandwich made with 2 slices of wholemeal bread, chicken, coleslaw, followed by some more yoghurt with a few almonds, cashews and a couple of strawberries. This left me at 6.3 after two hours which is pretty good considering what I'd eaten. This is where it goes a bit odd. For various reasons I wasn't able to eat for the next 8 hours. When I got in at 10:30pm my reading was 4.7, which is about as low as I would usually go. Not feeling particularly hungry and not wanting to go to bed on a full stomach I had one slice of the same bread with a bit of cream cheese (which would have had less than half a gram of carbs in it). 2 hours later I'm at 8 !!! I double checked on the meter and the second test was 7.9. I am somewhat puzzled as this was a fraction of what I ate at lunchtime. I am beginning to suspect that my pancreas goes to bed earlier than the rest of me :(

An avrage slice of bread usually has over 18 grams of carbs and if it was the crust considerably more. Maybe the cream cheese had some sugar in it . I had tow readings tonight from a mechien of 12 and 10.8 and I knew they were wrong so I tested on my other and it was 6.5 I retested on the high mechien and it said 6.8 which is waht I was expecting. Somtimes they just dont behave them selfs . Just a quick though you did wash you hands. And thwn there is also the introduction of if you have been stressed through out the day?

I had been a bit stressed during the evening. The reason for my late arrival home had been a 4 hour wait in A+E with my partner, although everything turned out to be fine. I was quite prepared for the test I first did when I got home to be higher because of it, but it was a very normal 4.7. I did another test about an hour after the 8 just before I went to bed and I had dropped to 6.7. Woke up about 3 hours later and so did another test and I was down at 5. Not sure why I had the spike considering that I had twice as much bread at lunchtime along with a bunch of other stuff. Maybe I had eaten so little, that my pancreas just didn't realise it was supposed to do anything.

Could be a delaid reaction to the stress or just a rogue reading . One thing I have lernt in the last month or so is diabetea dosnt always make sence. Take it easy chuck
