Hello, as relative newbie I'd appreciate some advice. I've had a really bad cough/cold/sore throat and been laid up in bed for 5 days. My blood sugar levels keep rising and I'm been using extra Novorapid ( hourly - 2 hourly injections in between meals of 1/2 or 1 unit : am being cautious so I don't go too low) to keep bringing it down. I low carb and exercise and maintain an average of around 6.0 usually ( HbA1c 38/ 5.6). I'm using double my usual amount of Novorapid . Should I have increased my basal rather than keep topping up with Novorapid? I have the Freestyle Libre so can see when I'm rising ( & then fingerprick before injecting). I'm just about managing to keep my levels from going above 9 ( I don't usually go above 8 & usually stay pretty steady between 4.5 and 7.8 but I'm not going below 6 and just keep creeping up to 9 ). Any advice gratefully received!
