Does this happen after every meal?
Or at certain times?
Do you check your blood glucose levels at the time?
What is your diet like at the moment?
What meds are you on?

Sorry for the questions, but more information would be helpful.

It really could be a lot of conditions, such as hyperthyroidism, only going to your GP will you get a proper diagnosis.

A visit to your GP should be your priority.
Taking everything into account, your meds might need adjustment. Again your shift patterns will throw your body out of sync. And you do need to keep testing!
High blood glucose levels and thyroid problems will cause lethargy and tiredness.

I also get very tired after eating and fall asleep on the settee. This is worse in the evening 6pmish and if I have a carb protein veg dinner. Last night was typical - ate ham sandwich and beetroot veg salad, at 6pm, sat down, fell asleep- I could hear my family talking to me but couldn't rouse myself. They are all asleep Noe and I'm wide awake!

Perhaps you can consider trying out a couple spoonful of virgin coconut oil. I find that helps to keep my brain from dozing off.

Basically because T2D are insulin resistant and our brain has impaired glucose uptake. So having some alternative fuel (ketone bodies) helps.

Carbs or, if you eat low carb, too much protein, will convert to sugar and will cause you to be sleepy after eating. It's a sign of your sugar levels spiking. Something to be avoided.

Always tired, always got a headache, often feel dizzy. I do try and do some exercise but, since Christmas, have failed miserably. I'd like to blame the metformin and gliclazide, but I doubt very much if I could con anyone they're to blame, besides, no one can con themselves, can they?

It could be the glicizide, it does have those symptoms, when your blood glucose levels drop suddenly, just like a false hypo.
What's your Hba1c?
Do you think your eating too many carbs or upped your fat?
Have you spoken to your GP about how you are feeling?
Do you drink enough water or have enough salt?
There must be a reason why you are feeling this way on a low carb diet!
And there could be many answers!

I say this because, that's how I was for years before eventually getting a proper diagnosis and then ultra low carb lifestyle. The difference from then to now is truly remarkable!

HAPPYKAZ,

YES YES YES, and I have cut down my meals. I think I may need a higher dose of glyclazide, as I was never so hyperglycemic 9 years age. And in the morning after taking 80mg glyc and 1/3 of metformin my bg is now an average of 12 or so. I don't understand it except perhaps not enough drugs.
