I normally have no problems with my glucose control, but today we were held up at the vet and then the supermarket, by the time we got home, 5 hours after having breakfast I was shaking so much I could not hardly test my glucose, my hands were shaking badly. I was 4.5 I had lunch cooking (chicken casserole and basmati rice) I ate that and still felt ´strange´ so added 2 teaspoons of sugar to my tea (UGH, how did I ever take sugar in my tea!!) I still felt odd so had a plain sugar free yoghurt with some dried fruit. I now feel fine, my reading 30 min after eating all that food is 11.9 We had no ´naughty´sugar filled food in the house, apart from the dried fruit, maybe we should keep something hidden at the back of the cupboard in future!

4.5 isn't mega low huni. Are your bs numbers normally higher? Perhaps a "false hypo" if they are?

I agree, 4.5 is lowish but shouldn't really feel that bad at that level. As smart lady says, if you generally run a little higher than recommended, you can get feelings of a hypo even at these readings. Also, I would certainly keep some fast acting carbs in the house, jelly babies, Lucozade or similar.

Sounds indeed like a 'False Hypo' as others have suggested-I used to get those feelings with readings as high as 13mmol when I started getting control as my body was used to readings in the 20's and 30's but the good news is after you adjust-those false hypo's dissappear and are replaced with a great feeling of new energy and freshness-well they did for me anyway! lol

Best
