After 10 months of trying Trulicity, (allergic reaction on injection sites), Ozempic, (a bout of Vertigo) then Victoza I finally had a face-to-face appointment with the diabetes sister at the surgery for my annual review. In spite of an HbA1c of 44, the lowest I've ever been, we decided that I ought to stop the Victoza. I've just had a very uncomfortable couple of weeks waiting for a fast track hospital appointment to see if the hoarse voice, cough and exhaustion were a consequence of throat cancer. Fortunately, the nasendoscopy showed nothing to worry about and the diagnosis is 'silent reflux' . I take Omeprazole for Gastro reflux but have not been away of any problem with the medication not working. But, there is inflammation and slight swelling which is what is causing the problems. In discussion with the diabetes nurse I discovered that one of the strong side effects of Victoza is reflux and I can time the voice problems beginning to starting Victoza 12 weeks ago. It may just be coincidence but it was certainly enough for me to want to stop it. So be aware if you are using it. Wish me luck as I'm now just on Metformin, back where I was 15 years ago!!
