Has anyone else experienced this? Really helpful to read all the posts as I feel quite alone. Very few people in my area on this drug according to the diabetic consultant I see. :?

I wonder if Victoza was named after Victory! maybe it was a eureka moment when they discovered the drug also helps with weight loss?

I check my sugars and they are normally about 7.0 before going to bed, this has happened for the last couple of nights, I also get a sense of falling when trying to get to sleep, has anyone else had this? I am wondering if it's just me or the drug?
I am going to reduce my victoza back to 0.6 just to see if that makes a difference, I will let you know the out come.Hobs said:kay957 said:It is now day 16 of being on Victoza, although I feel great and BG levels very good, I am suffering from shakes, only at night though! Now that's strange that you should mention this as I too have just started to get 'strange' events. I thought I was getting hypo with many of the symptoms, but when my wife managed to get some blood out of me (I could barely think) the reading we 5.9 but felt a lot better after a rushed slice of toast & a cuppa... then when I went to bed I felt kinda strange & dizzy. By the morning I felt the room was spinning every time I moved my head as I could not stand still without using 2 sticks and even then walking progress was slow. She called the GP and a locum arrived, mumbled summat about new drugs and too short a trial period and left a script for Stemetil (prochlorperazine) which she collected straight away. I took 4 followed by 2 and again 2 last night and I'm no longer dizzy or feeling as though I'm falling when I lay down. The Doc mentioned that Vertigo could be an unlisted side effect. I am now on 3 Stemetil today and then 2 and finally 1 unless it starts up again.
The chemist did tell my wife that if we cant get hold of GP in future, Stugeron an OTC med will work exactly the same @ £2.60 per pack.
I'm not saying that my problems are the same as yours, but it does seem to be a coincidence.
The locum also mentioned that as I take beta blockers (Sotalol) for an arrhythmia, a hypo can occur at a higher BG level and that can vary with the individual, and my diabetes may have even been brought on my beta blocker treatment in the first place ... I tell ya..its a minefield out there....good luck with your GP!

Feel good and I cant get over the weight I have lost,as I too am immobile

I am managing well on that dose, lost weight again this week, another 2lbs, slowly but surely the weight is going and on the lower dose. Feel great on the drug, the best thing since sliced bread i'd say!
