Bit of an odd request but would really appreciate some guidance.

I have been T1D since 1991 (old timer!). When I moved out of home my mother binned my old/retired/unwanted T1 bits - no reason to keep them.

In the last 10 years, two of my children have been diagnosed and I started an independent support group for local families. We had an event a year or so ago which included a display of historic items that I bought on ebay or had gifted to me (old syringes from the 50's, palmer injector, hydrometer). The hospital also lent me a couple of items like an inhaler and some Novo pens.

I regularly look on eBay for items to build my collection but am really struggling to find things in the UK - so much in USA but can't really warrant the postage cost. Can anyone suggest where to look for items in the UK?

I have recently been looking for BG monitors and prickers (old and newer styles for a timeline), old pumps, information books (I recently got a book by HG Wells!), old insulin pens to create a timeline (from all ages - my first in the 90's was a creamy coloured BD one, I think?). I also remember having a small yellow book (from The Diabetic Association?) with all the exchange points from takeaways - I'd love to find another one of those! I lent mine to a newly diagnosed colleague in 2000 and never saw it again

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look for items to purchase? All ideas gratefully received. Many thanks

Ps. My display was in our hospital waiting area until recently. Sadly, many of the items were stolen so it needed to be removed.

Hmm, if you want books you use the diabetes or diabetic keyword and specify a publication date less than say 1960
eg this diet sheet?
I still remember the blue book of proprietary foods I was given in 1970.

Otherwise I suspect ebay or facebook is the way to go. You have to be careful how you word things here because you can't ask people to send you stuff (it would count as soliciting). Likewise you could enquire on the DUK forums but I suspect that they have the same rules we do so you'd have to word things the same way you have here ie ask for suggestions as to where to look.

Good luck with your search.
