Back when I was a child there was a great fuss about sugar and tooth decay. We " solved" it by putting flouride in the water. In doing so we missed the point - sugar rots teeth and every cell in the body leading to manifestations everywhere from diabetes, to cancer, heart disease, alzheimers and much else.
The dietary/ fat heart hypotheses held that having rotten teeth was a small price to pay for the huge improvements that would come from cutting out saturated fats. It should have understood that the rotten teeth were simply stage 1 of the progression to everything else.
I guess for all of us the lesson to learn is making sure that we do not have bleeding gums, and are getting enough vitamin K2 from whatever source.
