A long time ago now Dennis, but my Mum was given a glass of stout each day when hospital after having me. (though you're unlikely to be feeding a baby :D )

Many years ago when I was in the Army you were entitled to one small bottle of beer as a hospital in patient in Military hospitals( we used to have them in those days). I was not convinced the beer was for medical reasons but was for morale!

Spot on once again Dennis.

All the best,

Agreed, also non-meat eaters are likely to be deficient in zinc as well as (possibly) iron, plus many eareas of the world are selenuim deficient (theoretically a brazil nit per day is sufficient). Probably low fatters are likely to have the most deficiencies.

Actually a brazil NUT a day would give a larger dose

I was at BMH Rhinteln off and on during the sixties. I was based at Dortmund.

I remember well 'the Charlies'. I used to like a Charlie mit. To the non military types- a carlsberg and lime!

Thanks for digging up that memory!!!
