Hi
My BMI is 18.2 & it has gone down from 18.9 in january. I want to halt this weight loss without affecting my sugars much. I would be happy to have a BMI of atleast 19. I am 159 cm of height, weighing 46 kgs. Need some good ideas to gain weight. Any thanks in advance:)

put up your carb, fat and protein % or grams that you are eating now, If you aren't using a log, you may need to get it into http://www.myfitnesspal.com/
I assume you're T2, my initial thought is you aren't getting enough fat because you should stabalise with reduced carb

You could try snacking on seeds and nuts for the extra calories, alternatively try eating some cheeses like Babybel, if you do just keep an eye on your bg as you may need to take extra insulin depending on your results.

that should make it easier to work out, there is no 'I can only eat 10g of carb or I spike'
you may be able to just bump your carbs up, but it is still a good idea to look at your total calories and macronutrients, because it may not be diet related
what are your average BG numbers & units for the T1 guys to help too, I'm clueless with that black art

13 to 7.4 is pretty good, but you are able to adjust your carb intake with insulin, where the non meded T2 is stuck with his carb intake
if you put up the detailed bg and unit numbers, the clewed T1 guys can help you adjust everything and balance calories and macronutrients that you also post

Dare I say, the other way of doing it is to bump your Lantus up slightly so it makes you hungry and you will "eat to the insulin". Not normally a good idea but it might be a good plan for weight gain if you are struggling? Just remember to eat good things not **** - carry "good" snacks.

Actually fat-rich foods are probably best and safest. But a little extra insulin will ensure you use that dietary fat to build body mass.

Nah. You up it very slightly and eat bigger meals and/or nibble when you get peckish.

It's the reverse of the fact that you need to lower your Total Daily Dose in order to lose weight as a T1.

Okay. Thank you:) If I increase my carb, I will be in need of rapid acting, right? But proteins & fat won't affect my bloods significantly. Can I gain weight without upping my carbs but increasing lantus? I am quite active too.

Increasing the Lantus is just a trick really. Yes you should be able to gain weight without extra Lantus and with just extra fat and protein, no extra carbs.

Yes, you can increase both fats and proteins with very little effect on blood sugar but it will be pushing up the calorie intake which hopefully will help with weight gain. You can increase the carbs as well, of course, but need to adjust the insulin to match.

I wouldn't be increasing the lantus as this would just lead to more hypo's, this would be especially so during the night when the OP is not eating.

Eat more, I've had the same problem. I did notice I needed extra qa insulin to cover the larger meals weather it was extra protein/fat/carbs. Test and record and if eating more may throw your ratios out and have to re work them.
