Was it the right decision to leave the EU

Yes, our future is much clearer now.
 
I think it was the right choice, we will face difficulties but no more than we would have had the remain won. All I have read is people saying oh no, we are doomed etc and scare mongering, we are a demorcracy get over it. The choice was made with a public vote and the leave campaign won, now lets just see what happens over the next few months/years
 
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Who is Mr. big Mouth Farage? I have never heard of him until now. Who is he to criticize the Canadian PM Trudeau for speaking up for what he thought was the right thing to do. If Mr Big Mouth is so smart, why don't he volunteer to be Britain's next Prime Minister? Let us see if the people wants him to be their leader?

Try to imagine a British Donald Trump. That's Nigel Farage, but he doesn't have Trump's hidden liberal sympathies :D :D:D

PS - not to be confused with Boris Johnson, another Brit. He's not quite as right-wing as Trump, but he does have the same hair :D

Based on last week, he'd probably win.
 
It bothers me a lot that older people are saying they voted for the younger generation, thinking they were doing them a favour, and safeguarding their future.

I can understand it if you have kids too young to vote. But if they are old enough to put their own cross on their own bit of paper, then it is up to them to vote for themselves. Or not.

If anyone says 'I voted for my son/daughter/grandkids' then they are kidding themselves. The either voted for themselves, or they voted to control the next generation. I like the former, and the latter option makes me cringe.

Well. It rather depends. If they asked their kids how they were going to vote then voted in accordance, then it's a fair comment. If they didn't then your judgement applies.

But, in law, they can't force us out any faster, without a unanimous vote, which they won't get as there are too many other countries watching to see how it goes before making their own decision.

They can't do it with a unanimous vote either. This is enshrined in a treaty which would require changing. From triggering article 50, there are 2 years to agree an exit. That's solely the terms of the divorce.

If, in those two years, no agreement is reached, then that's that. No deal. Out with no agreement.
 
I have seen many posts on the leave decision, and the argument will rage for many months to come. However I have spoken to friends that were convinced that to leave was the right choice, but as more and more information comes to light that was withheld from the public at the time, many are beginning to wonder if they made the right choice.

In my honest opinion people voted for the wrong reasons, some because they don't like the PM, some because they hate the tory government, the list goes on, sadly many didn't vote on the core reason for the vote. Was the leave vote the right vote, I have no idea, 10 years from now we will truly know if it was right.

I agree with what you say; particularly in your second paragraph. I happen to think that the electorate have made the wrong choice, and that we are already seeing the impact of this, but it's going to take a long time to determine just how disastrous a decision it turns out to be.

In the mean time, the likes of Gove, Johnson and Farage will be all right - their sort always are :mad::mad::mad:
