Hi there,
I just wanted to ask if anyone might have experienced something like what happened to my long term partner on Sunday. I went out for a few messages leaving him with his 13 year old daughter . He was fine when I left. When I got back, his daughter had given him glucogel.(x 3) He had taken unwell. He said he had gone for a sleep, and woken up making a loud noise and feeling very odd. He shouted on his daughter and a asked for the glucogel. He said when he woke he felt his heart beating out of his chest then it was like it stopped..He said he thought he was dead, his vision went slightly blurred. I took him to A&E and they did tests etc and ruled out a heart attack. They said it was palpitations and that he just to keep an eye on it. He has diabetes since he was 17 and is now 43 and says he's not ever had a hypo like that before. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? We have been going through quite a stressful time recently and he not been eating right and not sleeping enough, not been generally keeping very well,
Thanks all.

Sounds to me the hypo also brought on an anxiety attack, a racing heartbeat is quite a common symptom of a hypo and it gets worse the lower it falls, it's to do with the body releasing adrenalin.

WAS THIS A HYPO or nothing to do with Diabetes. ? I am certainly not saying it was not, but I had a very similar experience about 5 years ago. Having a very stressful 3 months and not sleeping the night before I woke with my heart beats were so loud and fast I thought I was having a heart attack. I walked along a passage to wake someone and when I swung round to go the other way it stopped. This was caused by pure simple too much STRESS. I also had quite a large meal, more than I usually eat, just before going to bed.
