OK , Got stung on sunday / stood on a wasp ( I think ) in my flip flops . That evening , things seemed to calm down , after washing the foot , applying cream ,antihystamine and tablets , and monday was in difficulty , .... frozen brussel sprouts applied . Ended up in A and E last night . on 2000MG of penicillin antibiotice .
My foot today is getting larger , is this normal ? Any ogf you Diabetics had a bad reaction ?
Giving it one more day for the tablets to kick in , then back to the doc........
Any experiences of similar would help !
Thank you !! Brian
Type 2 / Metformin

No I haven't had such a bad reaction. I sometimes harvest grapes in a vineyard where wasps are a perpetual nuisance but I put that cream on that smells of smelling salts (ammonia) and so far everything is fine.

Since it concerns your foot you really do not want to leave it to chance. Good luck.

It usually takes up to 48 hours for antibiotics to kick in.
If the swelling does not subside later today then I would give your Surgery a ring, (out of hours Dr) and ask for advice to be on the safe side.

Keep the foot elevated as that will help.

Thanks for your replies , and advice .... still pretty Hot , and swollen, My wife thinks it might have been a snake ! LOL
If it was it only had one fang !!! there wasn`t anything to pull out , ie stinger / just one puncture wound . Horsy fly? who knows ..... I wont be wearing flip flops again in the countryside .
Hey ho ! Onwards and upwards ,,,,

Does seem excessive time frame. Cycling to work last year I got a wasp under my shirt and got stung twice on my back. Blood sugar went mad for a day (high) but then back to normal. Your swelling doesn't sound normal , get it checked.
