Hi! Poor you. It is an awful affliction isn't it. It is true that you are more likely to get uti with diabetes particularly if bs is high. I got one a few weeks ago which antibiotics cleared up. Felt like total ****! BS all over the place. Make sure to drink lots of fluids to flush out infection. Cranberry juice can prevent infection by stopping bacteria from clinging to urinary tract. Apparantly the tablets don't do this. Make sure it is unsweetened though! Hope you feel well soon

It increases the risk considerably. My bs was excellent when I got uti. They are more prevalent in women. A male friend of mine got 3 uti in very quick succession (not diabetic) and he was sent for scans and ultrasound because it is so unusual in men but if he was female he wouldn't have recommended scans. Just another plus to being of the female persuasion! Glad you're feeling better today

My mum is type 2 and was getting uti's constantly. They made her delerious(sp)
And I had to call an ambulance on more than 1 occasion. She has decreased kidney function. I think it's due to whatever medication she's on although not sure if its a diabetic one that causes it. Recurring infections can cause scarring in the bladder and urethra in turn causing more.

It's a shame! But cranberry juice works a treat!

I have quite frequent UTIs - maybe 2-3 per annum and they make me feel rubbish. Usually antibiotics is the only answer. As others have said, more pre-disposed to them being diabetic and female. My GP said it's also to do with your shape and the space 'down there' ?!!!!!
My sugars aint that bad (HBa1C 7.2) and it's something I've suffered with since I was a small girl. Grrr
