Hi 1st post newbie looking for advice.
I've just been told that after 8 years of tablets I'm moving onto insulin injections, 1 at night - not got them yet so don't know the variant. The problem is that following cancer I have only 1 kidney which isn't working very well (25%) and whilst I don't yet need dialysis it is something I definitely don't want to start. This means that only 2 drugs are suitable (Gliclazide and linagliptin) . However my renal problems have caused me to have lots of urinary tract infections and I have always used Robinsons lemon barley as a palliative. Though I don't particularly enjoy the taste it seems to do the job but I need something to do the same but without sugar to avoid further aggravation to my renal system. I appreciate that it may be an unusual combination but I thought someone may have some advice.

There are loads of sugar free lemon barley drinks on the market. Supermarkets do their brands and taste nicer than Robinsons. Hope you soon feel better.

I don't have kidney problems, but for years I suffered with cystitis and UTIs. Then I started taking double strength cranberry juice tablets and have hardly ever had one. Simple but such a relief.

Please check before you take supplements as I don't know if they'd be appropriate for you. I just thought I'd mention it as they were a 'lifesaver' for me.

Best wishes, and I hope the change to insulin goes smoothly.

that's a great bit of info, I have to see the hospital very soon and will discuss their suitability, It they are ok I will definitely get some. Thanks again
