WBC after a virus ?

I went for Hba1c today still waiting on that. But also had FBC. Everything was normal except WBC was very slightly high 11.5 range is 11. I had very bad fever and cough last week. Basically just wondering how long after a bad fever would WBC be raised. I still feel bit post viral and slight cough. I’ve seen on Google your WBC can be skewed for 5-25 days but not sure how accurate that is. My temperature was back to normal on Thursday although cough has lingered a bit. So basically today was 6 days after worse of fever.

I just had bloods repeat 23 days apart. The first wbc taken at the height of covid, flu and supraglottitis infections was sky high. Yesterday was back just under upper limits but a bit higher than usual for me. I’m guessing at 6 days it would still have been pretty high so I don’t think yours is unexpected

Thanks Hsss that’s reassuring. Kind of what I was thinking but good to hear your story. Hope you’re fully recovered now.

White blood cells

Actually I’ve just seen something else that says 2-4 weeks to go back to normal. And I guess the fact your GP retested you after over 3 weeks shows it can skew results for a while.
