An elevated white blood cell (WBC) count in young men is an independent predictor for the development of diabetes in later life, suggest study findings.

In addition, overweight and obese individuals with a relatively low WBC count have a significantly lower risk for diabetes than those with a higher count.

I find this interesting Jim - though I am a lady and not a young man I have over the years both before and after T2 diagnosis after blood tests for various reasons been called back to the docs because of unexplained raised wbc count - the last time was last year when my results where great and I felt really well no infection etc but still raised wbc
