So I trotted to the GP today because the skin irritation on BOTH arms has not rescinded with over-the-counter cortisone cream or sudacrem, so she prescribed something a little more meaty. I also showed her the Libre sensor/scanner in action, but there was absolutely no dice in her even considering to pay for even testing strips - apparently T2s only (for now) on metformin are just told to take the tablets and cut out sugary things! (I did point out to her that it is a little more than 'just cutting out sweets and the odd can of coke') but no dice.

HOWEVER - she did at least put a prescription on for the Tegaderm to hold the **** sensor in place at the gym/pool/steamroom/sauna sitch (at least until the partners start to quibble) so that at least is one less thing to order in on Amazon!

It looks like I will have to go for thigh placement (oo er) one more round as neither arm has cleared up sufficiently to try again. I know that this is a huge risk as if anything goes wrong (and I have discovered sensors and foam rollers for torture warm-ups are not good friend!) then Abbotts will not replace the sensor ... so it's a risk, but hopefully one that will allow the arms to heal up again so I can try the compeed trick on the arm instead.

That being said, I have enjoyed a week of not fretting at being jostled on the tube while commuting in to a freelancing gig...

Apparently I am quite a rarity in her eyes at wanting to manage this proactively. Which I find a crying shame but there you go!

Yes, a crying shame.
Well done for getting some support off your gp. Lets hope its put on repeat prescription for you til abbott do better.
Are you aiming for no metformin or like me, need it for other things?

I am 100% aiming for no metformin. My diagnosing GP was initially wanting me to go on Statins for high cholesterol, tablets for high BP, and then something to protect the liver because of all the tablets he was wanting me to use.

Luckily this GP was young and was a lot more impressed by my wanting to be proactive, but with A1C still at 59 there is quite a way to go, so a lot more work to avoid ever having to take more. Need to get back in the swing of some exercise now I am home for a spell and got grub delivered so back to nice home cooked meals instead of media centre food.
